Your privacy is important to Ledgers, and the purpose of this policy is to tell you what personal information we collect about you, how we use it, whether we disclose it to anybody else, how long we keep it, and how you can request access to your personal information.

Personal Information - means any information about you except your name, business title, business address, business email address, business telephone number or business fax number. It also does not include your home address and telephone number if these are published in a telephone or other directory.

Accountability - We are responsible for the personal information under our control and we empower our franchisees to protect your information and rely on them for compliance with this policy.

What Personal Information do we collect? When you hire a Ledgers Professional, depending on the nature of the engagement, we may collect your name, address, phone number, date of birth, social insurance number, income information, information as to marital status, dependents, spousal and dependent income and other financial and/or credit information.

The security of your information is important to us - your personal information is used by us only for the purposes identified below and access to your personal information is limited to those employees of Ledgers who need to have access to it.

How do we use your Personal Information? - Your personal information may be used by us to correspond with CRA, other Federal Agencies, banks and other lending institutions. Under no circumstances, will we disclose any personal information without your express consent.

Sometimes we have to share Personal Information - We do not sell or exchange your personal information with third parties. We may however, be obligated to disclose your personal information with CRA, and other Federal agencies. We may also disclose your personal information where we are required or permitted by law to do so.

How long do we keep your personal information? - We will retain your personal information related to Income Tax matters as long as we are obligated by CRA. Any other information will be retained as long as you are a client of Ledgers and for 3 years after the last engagement has been completed.

What can you do if you want to limit the use to which we put your personal information? - Most of the information we collect relates to the Income Tax Act, and the information collected is necessary to file your tax returns and to correspond with CRA on your behalf. Similarly, we must disclose your personal information as described above in order to correspond with CRA and to complete your tax return obligations. If you do not want us to disclose your personal information in any particular way, please inform us in writing.

You can request access to your personal information - You have the right to access the personal information which we have about you and to request that personal information which you believe inaccurate to be corrected.
